Tomalistis Falls, dubbed as the source of the “sweetest water in the world” in Caibiran, is gaining traction as a must-see place for locals and tourists. Tucked in a rocky shoreline, the falls is about 5 minutes walk from the heart of Brgy. Asug in Caibiran. The walk is relatively easy and the reward at the end will be well worth the effort.

The natural fresh water of Tomalistis Falls tastes exquisitely different, which made it popular to many. Even those from Samar who travel by motor banca used to visit the place just to fetch water. Its cold refreshing water drops down to the sea, which is only a few meters away and you’ll have a choice of lingering a sweet moment in the waterfalls or have a dip in the brackish water – a kind of falls to sea experience.

The untouched natural beauty has been transformed, and in order to accommodate the influx of guests, cottages perched on the rocks have been built and a boardwalk was created to make it easier to reach the waterfalls. You can also rent a floating cottage if you want to be kept away from the crowd and privately enjoy the relaxing view.

There’s also a kayak for rent at P100 per hour to let you enjoy paddling around. And don’t miss to snorkel to see the beautiful corals and variety of fish lurking under the crystal clear brackish water. Just be careful, sea urchins are everywhere. If accidentally you’re stung by a sea urchin, immediately remove any part of the sea urchin that’s embedded within your body and soak it in vinegar. Never urinate on it!!
